Funny microworld inhabitans made by Eugene Dranov aka Dranik. Great characters design, beautiful render, lighting and colors, especially water. Sunny paradise for microorganisms!

Title: Boris
Author: Richard Rosenman
Location: Ontario, Canada
Soft: 3dsmax 6.0, VRay 1.45.70, Photoshop
Portfolio here
Although he’s technically supposed to be a merciless alien invader, Boris is far too compassionate for planetary conquest and instead “comes in peace”, quite often evading near-death capture by the various worlds he visits.

Title: Shaved Bumblebee
Author: Till Nowak
Location: Mainz, Germany
Soft: 3ds max

This funny mate is just a bumblebee, though it resembles an elephant and human a little (LOL). Superb lighting, models and render.

Title: Charlie
Author: Richard Rosenman, Randi Yaffa, Joel Mongeon
Location: Ontario, Canada
Soft: ZBrush, VRay 1.47.03, Photoshop
Portfolio here
This is an in-house character created at Hatch Studios Ltd. Charlie was a runaway offshoot from a biological swine and pit bull DNA mixing experiment gone horribly wrong. As a result, Charlie lacks the minimal capacity of intellect required for self preservation. Charlie’s quite the trigger-happy madcap he appears to be and some have incredulously compared him to a particular president from the late 21st century on planet earth.

Title: Gerald Brom’s Helexa (3D adaptation)
Author: Par Tingstrom
Location: United Kingdom
Soft: Maya, Mudbox, Photoshop
Portfolio here
The artist used “Helexa” painting by Brom as the concept for this work. Yet he didn’t intend to make the exact copy of it. Superb textures, skin and muscles strike most.

Title: Sammy – Intergalactic Troublemaker
Author: Richard Rosenman
Location: Ontario, Canada
Soft: 3dsmax 6.0, VRay 1.09, Photoshop
Portfolio here
Sammy is the figment of the imagination of Canadian CG designer Richard Rosenman, who produced this character for his personal
satisfaction and also invented Sammy’s story. Sammy travels the galaxy for the sole purpose of “disturbing the peace”. He is known by many as “The Troublemaker”, or more simply put, “The Troubler”. Although Sammy may appear to be quite reptilian in
nature, he is actually quite a ladies man and has a bad habit of getting caught red handed by his multiple girlfriends across the galaxy. Currently, there are several hundred arrest warrants for him due to fraud.

Title: Devil character
Author: Michael van den Bosch
Location: Netherlands
Software: Lightwave 3D, Photoshop, ZBrush
Portfolio here
This is the cutest devil ever, perhaps. Michael van den Bosch has given the character a great personality, and worked out the smallest detail of it. Just have a look at mouth, teeth and horns! Awesome!

Title: Salad
Author: Till Nowak
Location: Mainz, Germany
Software: 3ds max
Portfolio here
The original idea of creating portraits made entirely of vegetables, fruits, flowers, etc. belongs to Giuseppe Arcimboldo, the Italian painter of 16th century. German CG artist Till Nowak has continued this concept, and created 3D vegetable monster. The creature looks quite aggressive, though. All vegetarians should use this picture as their desktop themes LOL.

Title: White Teeth
Author: Jonathan Simard
Location: Beenox, Canada
Software: 3ds max, mental ray, Photoshop
Portfolio here
This creature is the oddest one…and a bit scary. That’s because of its wide smile, I think. I can’t define who it is
. Octopus plus buffoon plus Cheshire cat’s smile.

Title: we’re not alone
Author: Canderle Damien
Location: Lyon, France
Software: Modo, ZBrush, Photoshop
Portfolio here

Author: Greg Petchkovsky
Location: Australia
Software: 3ds max, Digital Fusion, VRay, ZBrush
Portfolio here
This model is the 3D masterpiece indeed! So shocking ugly creature! Have a look at its face – it is so emotional, though I can’t quite read what he’s thinking but you know his mind is on something!

Title: Gladiator
Author: Jonas Thornqvist
