A Speck of Spice – Pin-Up Style. Part II.
September 17th, 2009Pin-up art is all about strong and passionate female beauty. From the first shots these pictures got the ever-growing army of fans. Utilizing the luring shots, the pin-up photographers depict the female nature as teasing, appealing and playful. Its vibrant, pulsating and natural tone is evident. These pictures have the label of flirt and obvious sensuality. Most of them present playful moments that invite the viewer to imagine what lies behind them. The main idea of pin-up pictures is to give a slight hint that is enough to tease. The eroticism that is hidden in these pictures can be magical with inimitable chic, painted in subdued dyes, sometimes intensive and even aggressive. They are the object of interest and have one striking quality – they prompt you to look at them for hours and then you return to them again and again.
I invite you to glimpse into the pin-up art and to admire its aesthetic and passionate tone.

Some amazing work here. My favorite would be “Silhouette from Watchmen” – others are a little too “smooth” for my tastes.
Also… I do agree that “Bad Hair Day” has a Walt Disney style to it. You can often see that some illustrators are “schooled” rather than being raw artists – still talented though!!
